JAZZY VARIETY SHOW

“Lannie “Slick Chick” Garrett leads a free-and-easy tour of the ‘40s. She romps and stomps and croons her way through a string of vintage pearls.” —Dick Kreck, The Denver Post

Named after an old Dinah Washington song, “The Slick Chick on the Mellow Side Show” swings from mellow to sassy, torchy to trashy, campy to classy throughout the evening. Classic songs by Nat King Cole, Anita O’Day, Peggy Lee, Louis Jordan, Duke Ellington and many more are featured in this tribute to the music of the1940s and early 1950s.

Lannie’s and her band, The Errand Boys of Rhythm , shine on songs like “Cheek to Cheek,” “Hit that Jive, Jack,” and their swinging version of “Mood Indigo.” Acoustic bass, sax, piano, guitar, drums. The band is HOT.

Lannie’s ever present sense of humor is show-cased on campy songs like “If I Can’t Sell It, I’m Gonna Sit Down on It.” Classy? Alone with just an upright bass, she delivers a touching rendition of the familiar, “Time After Time” from her critically acclaimed CD, “comes love.”

Whether interpreting a mellow ballad or delivering a raucous renditon of an old jump tune, Garrett is an electrifying singer who brings the aura and allure of the torch singer into the 90s.

“Thank you for putting on such an energetic and entertaining show. You were wonderful as always. Your musicians and soundman are very talented.”–Temple Sinai
